About the Role
Our client is seeking a creative and technically adept Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative product development team in Plymouth . This role is ideal for a recent graduate passionate about translating concepts into tangible, high-performance products. You will work within a collaborative environment, contributing to the entire design cycle from initial concept through to manufacturing. Mentored by experienced designers and engineers, you will develop your skills in CAD, simulation, and prototyping. We are looking for individuals with a strong foundation in mechanical principles and a flair for design, ready to contribute to exciting projects in the coastal city of Plymouth .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
- Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Perform simulations and analyses (e.g., FEA, CFD) to validate designs and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effective.
- Build and test prototypes, documenting results and iterating on designs based on feedback.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and design methodologies to drive innovation.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design Engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks , Inventor, or CATIA.
- Solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) is a plus.
- Strong creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent attention to detail.
