Job Description
A welcoming mainstream primary school in Balham, SW12 is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate who is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN or working with children and would like to gain valuable hands-on experience within a primary school.
The Graduate Teaching Assistant will work across KS1 and KS2, providing a mixture of general classroom support and targeted assistance for pupils with special educational needs.
The Graduate Teaching Assistant Role
Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with their learning.
Work alongside class teachers to support lessons and classroom activities.
Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions where required.
Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
Assist with literacy, numeracy and other areas of the primary curriculum.
Help pupils develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning.
Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Help prepare classroom resources and learning activities.
Become an active and reliable member of the wider school team.
The Ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant
Holds a degree in any subject.
Has a genuine interest in education and working with children.
Previous experience with children is beneficial but not essential.
An interest in SEND, teaching or educational psychology would be advantageous.
Patient, enthusiastic and approachable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable and able to commit to a full-time, long-term position.
Comfortable supporting pupils across both KS1 and KS2.
