Grid Connection Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Grid Connection Specialist to join their expanding team in Belfast . This role is crucial for facilitating the integration of new renewable energy generation projects into the national grid infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing the entire grid connection application process, from initial assessment through to energisation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and technical standards. Working within a dedicated team of industry professionals, you will play a key role in advancing Northern Ireland's clean energy future from our Belfast hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all aspects of the grid connection application process for renewable energy projects.
• Engage with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to secure grid connection agreements.
• Conduct technical feasibility studies and impact assessments for proposed generation sites.
• Ensure compliance with relevant grid codes, planning regulations, and energy industry standards .
• Liaise with internal engineering teams, external consultants, and project managers to address technical queries and requirements.
• Track project progress, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure timely grid connection.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in managing grid connections for energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of electricity network operations, power systems, and renewable energy technologies .
• Familiarity with the regulatory frameworks governing energy connections in the UK and Ireland.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to interpret complex technical documentation and regulatory requirements.
