About the Role
Our client, a forward-thinking organisation in the Energy Sector , is seeking a skilled Grid Integration Engineer to work from their Oxford office. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient connection of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) , such as solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to the national grid. You will play a key role in developing technical solutions and standards to facilitate the integration of these new technologies, contributing to a cleaner and more resilient energy future. This position demands a deep understanding of power systems and grid operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop technical requirements and standards for the interconnection of DER to the electricity grid.
- Conduct grid impact studies and analyse the effects of DER on grid stability and power quality.
- Collaborate with network operators, developers, and equipment manufacturers to facilitate seamless grid integration.
- Provide technical expertise on power system planning, protection, and control for DER integration projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to DER connection and operation.
- Stay current with evolving grid codes, regulations, and technological advancements in the DER space.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on Power Systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering, with specific experience in grid connection or distributed energy resources .
- Strong knowledge of grid codes, power system analysis, and protection principles.
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, battery storage systems, and EV charging infrastructure.
- Proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory) is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
