Grid Integration Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the UK's electricity network, is looking for a skilled Grid Integration Engineer to join their team in Nottingham . This essential role focuses on ensuring the seamless and stable integration of new renewable energy sources and distributed generation into the national grid. You will be instrumental in managing grid stability, planning grid upgrades, and ensuring compliance with technical requirements. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute directly to the energy transition and maintain a reliable power supply.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze the impact of new generation connections on the electricity grid , including stability and power quality.
• Develop and implement technical requirements for connecting renewable energy projects to the grid.
• Perform grid studies, including load flow, short-circuit, and dynamic stability analyses.
• Collaborate with developers, regulators, and internal engineering teams to facilitate grid connection processes.
• Develop and update technical standards and guidelines for grid integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to grid connection and operational stability.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with a specialization in power systems.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in power systems engineering, specifically related to grid integration or transmission planning.
• Strong understanding of power system dynamics , stability, and protection principles.
• Proficiency in grid simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD).
• Familiarity with UK grid codes and relevant regulatory requirements .
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
