About the Role

Our client is seeking a forward-thinking Grid Modernization Engineer to join their essential services team in Portsmouth . You will be instrumental in upgrading and optimizing the electrical grid infrastructure, focusing on integrating renewable energy sources, enhancing reliability, and improving operational efficiency. This role involves working closely with project teams and stakeholders to implement smart grid technologies and ensure the robust delivery of energy across the region. It’s a crucial role in ensuring a stable and sustainable energy supply for the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and oversee the implementation of grid modernization projects, including smart metering and distribution automation.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for enhancement and capacity expansion.
• Develop technical specifications for new grid technologies and equipment.
• Coordinate with utility operators, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success and compliance.
• Assess the impact of renewable energy integration on grid stability and develop mitigation strategies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to grid operations and equipment failures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in power systems.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in power systems engineering, grid operations, or utility infrastructure projects.
• Solid understanding of grid modernization concepts, including SCADA, DMS, and AMI systems.
• Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP) is advantageous.
• Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment in Portsmouth .
