About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Grid Operations Engineer to join their critical infrastructure team in Birmingham . This role is essential for ensuring the stability, reliability, and efficiency of the electrical grid, particularly as the integration of renewable energy sources continues to grow. You will be at the forefront of managing grid operations, responding to disturbances, and implementing solutions to maintain power quality and system security. This hybrid position offers the chance to collaborate with a highly skilled team, combining in-office strategic planning with remote monitoring and analysis capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze real-time grid performance data to identify potential issues and ensure operational stability.
- Respond effectively to grid disturbances, implementing corrective actions and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and execute operational plans for grid maintenance, upgrades, and the integration of new energy assets.
- Perform power system studies, including load flow, fault analysis, and stability assessments.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of advanced grid control strategies and technologies.
- Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and field crews to ensure seamless project execution and operational readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in power systems engineering, grid operations, or a related area.
- Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, ETAP).
- Understanding of grid codes, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices for electricity networks.
- Experience with SCADA systems and real-time operational monitoring tools is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
