About the Role
Our client is looking for a diligent and skilled Grid Operations Specialist to join their critical operations team in Oxford . You will be responsible for monitoring and managing the flow of electricity across the power grid, ensuring stability, reliability, and safety. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, real-time data analysis, and effective communication under pressure. Working closely with control room operators and field teams, you will play a vital part in maintaining the integrity of the energy supply, requiring full-time presence at our operational centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor real-time grid performance and energy flows using SCADA systems.
- Respond to and manage grid disturbances, power outages, and other operational emergencies.
- Coordinate with generation sources and transmission networks to balance supply and demand.
- Implement operational procedures to maintain grid stability and asset integrity.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders during operational events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in power grid operations or control centre environments.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, grid control software, and electrical principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and make critical decisions quickly.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
