Job Title: Grinding Operative
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £14.43 - £14.97 per hour + Shift Allowance
Hours: Rotating Shifts
6:00am - 2:00pm 2:00pm - 10:00pm Early finish on Fridays (6-hour shift)
Overview
We are recruiting for a Grinding Operative to join a well-established manufacturing business in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong manufacturing background who takes pride in producing high-quality work and working to precise engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operating grinding machinery to finish metal components to specification Grinding and shaping steel and other alloys to achieve the required dimensions and finish Using hand-held grinders, abrasive tools, and production equipment safely and effectively Removing imperfections, burrs, and excess material from manufactured parts Inspecting components to ensure they meet quality and engineering standards Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions where required Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area Working closely with colleagues to achieve production targets and deadlines
Requirements
Previous experience in a grinding, fettling, deburring, or manufacturing role Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment (essential) Experience working with steel and metal components (highly desirable) Ability to use grinding tools and machinery confidently and safely Good attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Ability to read engineering drawings is advantageous Able to work rotating shifts Reliable, hardworking, and a strong team player
