Grounds Maintenance Operative

Working from the Burton-On-Trent depot, the Grounds Maintenance Operative tends cemeteries across Derby on a fixed-term contract running until the end of October. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 until 16:30, with pay reaching £12.71 hourly.

Duties cover grass cutting using ride‑on and pedestrian mowers, strimming, pruning, weeding, shrub and border care, plus litter collection and related horticultural tasks, keeping each site presentable for clients. Applicants need prior grounds maintenance experience and a full driving licence. The permanent role suits someone reliable who enjoys outdoor practical work and takes pride in well‑kept surroundings.

About the role

We currently require multiple Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our team in Burton working on our cemeteries contract in Derby. You will keep several local grounds in a wonderful condition for our clients through grass cutting; using a ride on and pedestrian mower, strimming, pruning, weeding, shrub and border maintenance, litter picking and any other related horticultural duties. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills, gain valuable experience, and grow with us in a friendly and encouraging environment.

Requirements

• Previous Grounds Maintenance working experience.
• A full valid UK driving licence is essential.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable with a can‑do attitude and safety‑conscious mindset.
• PA1 and PA6 licences are an advantage but not essential.
