Velocys is seeking to immediately fill the role of Group Financial Controller

Velocys is pioneering technology that enables the production of sustainable fuels for aviation and heavy transport. With operations across the US, UK, China, and India, we’re seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead our global finance operations and help build a scalable finance function for future growth.

The opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll lead all aspects of financial controllership, reporting, project accounting, audit, tax, treasury, payroll, and financial systems across our international business.

What you’ll do

• Lead monthly close, consolidation, and management reporting under IFRS.
• Oversee US and UK accounting, monthly reconciliations, payroll, tax compliance, and statutory reporting.
• Manage project accounting, revenue recognition, and financial controls.
• Lead external audits and coordinate with tax and transfer pricing advisors.
• Manage 13-week cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk.
• Review commercial contracts and assess financial implications.
• Advise on international tax matters and providing technical accounting guidance to all entities.
• Drive continuous improvement of NetSuite, Oracle EPM and finance processes.
• Lead and develop the UK and US accounting teams.
• Streamline financial processes and implementing scalable process & systems to support growth.
• Manage the company’s insurance program and governance framework.

What we’re looking for

• ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent qualification.
• 5+ years of Financial Controller experience in a multinational environment.
• 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, including experience in a multinational organization.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, statutory reporting, and financial controls.
• Experience with project accounting and over‑time revenue recognition.
• Hands‑on leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• NetSuite and Oracle EPM experience preferred.
