IDEAL LOCATION - EAST MIDLANDS (Regular travel between company sites will be required)
Our client is one of the leading independent manufacturers of flexible packaging in the UK. They are looking to recruit a Group Operations Director to join their team. The position will include regular travel to sites across the Midlands.
You will provide leadership and direction across the Company's manufacturing operations, ensuring that sites operate safely, efficiently and consistently while achieving agreed production, quality, service and financial objectives.
The Operations Director will lead the operational management team, drive continuous improvement and ensure that people, plant and resources are effectively deployed to meet the current and future needs of the business.
Essential Requirement: Experience in Flexible Packaging or Polymer Recycling
Extrusion, Conversion & Printing would be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Company's recycling, manufacturing and associated operational activities. Develop and deliver the operational strategy in line with overall business objectives. Ensure sites achieve agreed production, efficiency, quality, cost and customer service targets. Establish and monitor operational KPIs, identifying trends and taking action where performance falls below expectations. Ensure high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are maintained across all operations. Provide leadership to Site Managers and other Operational Managers, setting clear objectives and holding individuals accountable for performance. Ensure appropriate staffing, skills and resources are available to meet operational requirements. Drive productivity, efficiency and cost improvement across the business. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, downtime and operating costs and improve output and reliability. Ensure effective utilisation, maintenance and development of plant, machinery and operational assets. Work closely with Engineering to maximise plant availability and develop preventative maintenance and investment plans. Ensure appropriate production planning, stock control and material flow to meet business and customer requirements. Maintain high standards of product quality and ensure operational compliance with Company quality systems and specifications. Support the development and implementation of capital expenditure projects, including new equipment, automation and site improvements. Work closely with Commercial, Finance, HR, Engineering, Quality and other functions to deliver Company objectives. Develop operational budgets and maintain effective control of expenditure. Identify operational risks and ensure appropriate controls and contingency arrangements are in place. Support recruitment, development, succession planning and performance management within the operational management team. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement and high performance. Provide regular operational performance reports and recommendations to the Managing Director and Board. Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the seniority of the role.The Operations Director has overall responsibility for ensuring that operational activities within their area of control are properly managed and carried out safely and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and legal requirements.
