Gujarati-Speaking Befriender Volunteer

Volunteering with Creative Support is a great way to enrich the lives of people with support needs while helping our staff to deliver person-centred services.
We are looking for Gujarati-speaking befriender volunteers who are outgoing, sociable and have good listening skills. You will be conversing with older residents in our Extra Care services to express themselves in their native language of Gujarati. You will provide companionship by meeting as convenient for a cup of tea and a chat.
You will engage with residents in a friendly manner and develop a strong rapport with the people we support. You will meet residents in their flats and in common areas, encouraging them to engage in conversation and activities. If you have a few hours to spare on a regular basis, we would love to hear from you!
This role is for our extra care services in North London which support older people. The services are located in Brent with good public transport links.
Volunteer duties:
- Meet on a regular basis.
- Provide companionship and conversation whilst respecting boundaries.
- Engage the people we support in conversation.
- Report any safeguarding concerns to Creative Support staff members immediately.
- Understand and work within Creative Support Policies and procedures, respecting boundaries.
- Attend regular supervisions with your allocated volunteer supervisor and complete any training provided.
Hours: Flexible days and times, based on the volunteer's availability.
