Hair, Beauty & Hospitality Vocation Teacher/ Instructor (SEMH Post) Where: Solihull Pay: £135.89- 199.89 per day Who: QTS/ Non-QTS applicants

Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a hair, beauty and hospitality Teacher to join an expanding alternative provision, working with secondary to post-16 students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. This is a teaching role focused on delivering a practical, hands-on vocational curriculum to small groups of learners who may have experienced disruption to their education. The provision offers a structured, supportive environment where consistency, relationships, and clear routes into employment are paramount.

Students are supported to re-engage with learning, develop practical skills, and work towards City & Guilds/ Functional skills qualifications (Entry Level 3-Level 2). Teaching takes place in groups of up to six learners, with a strong focus on vocational learning, confidence-building, and employability skills. You will deliver engaging sessions across a range of trades including braiding hair, hair extensions , hair dying, hair styling, hospitality and Make up artistry. A calm, flexible, and resilient approach is essential, alongside effective behaviour management using trauma-informed strategies.

The role also involves supporting students pastoral needs, working closely with support staff, contributing to EHCP targets, and maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment with high standards of health and safety.

• Position: Vocations Teacher (Hair, Beauty & Hospitality)
• Setting: Alternative / Specialist Provision
• Start date: October 2026 (possibly sooner)
• Duration / Likely Duration: Long-term
• Contract type: Temp-to-Perm
• Full time/part time: Full-Time
• Pay: From GBP148.39- 205.12 per day (depending on experience and quals)
• Working hours: 08.30am-16.00pm

Experience, Training And Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEND/SEMH needs
• Strong behaviour management and deskills
• Practical experience in hair beauty and hotel trades
• Ability to deliver engaging small-group sessions
• Confidence leading sessions alongside and directing support staff

Desirable

• Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent)
• Experience delivering City & Guilds or vocational qualifications
• Assessing / IQA qualifications
• Understanding of trauma informed school
• Knowledge of Functional Skills & City & Guilds curriculum
• Non-QTS will be considered for this opportunity

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced Child/ Adult Barred List DBS registered with the update service, or be willing to apply
• Provide a minimum of two professional, child-related references
