About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Aquatics to lead and manage all aquatic programmes and operations at their state-of-the-art facility in Wolverhampton . This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, customer service, and programme quality for swimming lessons, fitness classes, and general pool use. You will manage a team of lifeguards and swim instructors, develop innovative aquatic offerings, and contribute to the overall success and community engagement of the leisure centre, fostering a safe, enjoyable, and effective aquatic environment for all users.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the aquatic facility, including operations, safety, maintenance, and staffing.
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive schedule of aquatic programmes, including swimming lessons, water fitness, and recreational swimming.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic attendants.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and water quality regulations and best practices.
- Manage the aquatic programme budget, including revenue generation and expense control.
- Promote aquatic programmes and services to increase membership and participation.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aquatic management or a supervisory role in a large pool facility.
- Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent is essential.
- Swim England or equivalent teaching qualification is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in staff management, training, and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, and health and safety compliance.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
