Role: Head of Building Surveying
Location: Brighton, East Sussex
Hours: Full-time
Pay: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a generous commission structure based on fees generated
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Building Surveying to join one of our longstanding clients, an established property consultancy based in Brighton.
This is a rare senior-level opportunity for an ambitious and commercially minded Chartered Building Surveyor to take ownership of a Building Surveying department, with the autonomy to develop and grow the service while remaining actively involved in fee-earning work and client delivery.

The Requirements
BSc Hons in Building Surveying from a RICS-accredited degree programme Full Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, MRICS Strong all-round building surveying experience Proven client-facing and work-winning capabilities Commercially aware with experience managing fees, budgets and client relationships Ability to develop a profitable Building Surveying service Strong leadership, team-working and communication skills Experience supporting, mentoring and developing other surveyors Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to produce, edit and format professional reports and documentation Full, clean UK driving licence Legal right to work in the UK
The Role
Lead and develop the Building Surveying department Set the strategic direction and performance objectives for the department Develop client relationships and identify opportunities to win new work Deliver building surveys and condition reports Undertake contract administration and project management Complete defect analysis and prepare technical reports Advise on landlord and tenant dilapidations Manage Party Wall matters Develop planned maintenance programmes Complete Reinstatement Cost Assessments Write and prepare detailed schedules of works for tender Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets Ensure projects are delivered profitably and to a high professional standard Maintain compliance with RICS regulations Manage, mentor and support surveyors and assistants at different stages of their careers Contribute to the wider strategy and growth of the business as part of the senior management team
