About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Department for Modern Languages to lead a vibrant faculty in Cardiff . You will be responsible for the strategic direction of the department, ensuring the delivery of outstanding language education that equips students with essential communication skills and cultural understanding for a globalized world. Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Modern Languages department , overseeing curriculum development and delivery across all key stages.
• Manage, support, and develop a team of language teachers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing departmental culture.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in all offered languages, promoting student engagement and academic success.
• Monitor student progress, analyze assessment data, and implement strategies to support diverse learning needs and improve outcomes.
• Champion the importance of language learning throughout the school, organizing events and promoting cultural exchange opportunities.
• Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and leadership initiatives.

Requirements

• A relevant degree in a Modern Language or related field, coupled with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., QTS).
• Substantial experience teaching modern languages at the secondary level, with a proven track record of excellence.
• Demonstrated experience in educational leadership, curriculum development, or departmental management.
• A deep understanding of language acquisition principles and effective pedagogical strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and motivate others.
