About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Department to lead their Project Management Office (PMO) in Birmingham . This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all project management activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be instrumental in developing and refining project management methodologies, mentoring project managers, and fostering a culture of excellence. This role offers a hybrid working model, combining the benefits of office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the company's portfolio of projects from initiation through to completion.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers and support staff, fostering professional growth.
- Ensure effective resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication across all projects.
- Oversee the project budget, track expenditures, and manage financial reporting for the PMO.
- Collaborate with departmental heads and senior leadership to align project objectives with business strategy.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management capacity.
- Proven experience establishing and managing a Project Management Office (PMO).
- Strong understanding of various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects with significant budgets.
- Relevant professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Practitioner is highly desirable.
