About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of the science curriculum across all year groups.
• Manage, inspire, and support a team of science teachers, providing mentorship and facilitating professional development.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality science teaching and learning, promoting innovative pedagogical approaches.
• Oversee the effective use of resources and budgets within the science department.
• Monitor student progress, analyse performance data, and implement strategies to enhance achievement and engagement in science.
• Champion a culture of scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and practical investigation within the school community.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in a science discipline.
• Significant experience teaching science at secondary level, with a proven track record of academic success.
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, such as Head of Year or Second in Department.
• A deep understanding of curriculum development, assessment strategies, and educational best practices in science.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
