Job Description
We're looking for a Head of Finance to join an award winning, private equity backed creative agency. Reporting to the MD and with a dotted line to the Group CFO, you will manage the end-to-end finances for both the UK and US studios, helping the business to continue the development of their financial and commercial processes.
The business are on an incredible growth trajectory and are looking for someone who's as equally happy presenting in a board room, as they are rolling the sleeves up and posting invoices.
This is a 12 month contract and both full-time and four day a week applicants will be considered.
Head of Finance - Responsibilities
- Preparation and delivery of the company's annual budget process alongside MD.
- Collaborate with department heads to establish departmental budget allocations and produce monthly reports analysing budget performance against actual expenditure.
- Support the Managing Director in the ongoing management of the company's budget, revenue forecasting and financial planning activities, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), including the preparation of quarterly re-forecasts.
- Prepare and present weekly financial projections and cash flow forecasts for discussion with the wider C-suite leadership team
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records; reports of company budgeting; financial

- Perform month-end close and prepare monthly management accounts
- Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger
- Manage the UK Bank relationship, acting as the point of contact in conjunction with external
- Finance team
- Contact for HMRC and Audit contact - VAT/Corp Tax filing, ensuring that BC is compliant with all regulations in conjunction with group finance team
- Work with an external accounting firm to provide support for company tax returns and annual audits
- Track expenditures related to R&D for future R&D tax credit purposes
- Track and maintain all company Capex spends and related depreciation
- Develop, update and maintain internal control procedures
- Ensure proper compliance with accounting policies and stay current on additions, changes, etc.
- Oversee work prepared by external bookkeepers
- Approve bi-weekly payment runs prepared by external bookkeepers
- Review monthly payroll prepared by third party
- Review cash flow on a weekly basis and update group cash flows
- Manage outstanding debtor balances and cash collections
- Support department managers with wider business needs
- Support new initiatives from founders with proposed pricing models
- Cash Flow Management: Overseeing and optimizing cash flow, ensuring adequate
- funding for operations and investments.
- Adhering to group reporting requirements
- Oversight of external accounting teams
Production Finance
- Review of bi-weekly processing of client invoicing
- Participate in weekly Production meetings to keep informed on the projects progress
- Review project-specific gross margins against estimates and investigate unusual relationships
- Be a resource as needed for the Production team for any issues with financial documents -
- Liaise with the PM's about project efficiencies, hiring and the tracking documents
- Assist with pricing models/discounts for projects
- Managing and updating the company's job dashboard.
Head of Finance - Required Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience in a senior finance role, preferably from a creative services background
- Able to effectively communicate financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working with international subsidiaries beneficial
- Able to start early to mid-September
- An all rounder - as happy presenting in a board room as inputting purchase and sales invoices!
Head of Finance - Package
- Full time or 4 day working weeks will be considered
