About the Role

Our client in Leeds is seeking an accomplished and strategic leader to fill the position of Head of Legal - Compliance . This senior role is crucial for overseeing the company's compliance framework, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies across the organisation. You will lead a dedicated compliance and legal team, develop and implement robust compliance strategies, and act as a key advisor to senior management on risk management and regulatory affairs, fostering a culture of ethical conduct and legal diligence throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's comprehensive legal and regulatory compliance program.
• Oversee investigations into potential compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise senior management and the board of directors on compliance risks and strategies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the legal and compliance team.
• Ensure all company operations adhere to relevant UK and international laws and industry standards.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage external compliance audits and reviews.

Requirements

• Law degree and admission to practice in the UK, with significant post-qualification experience (minimum 8 years) specifically in compliance and regulatory law .
• Proven experience in developing and managing corporate compliance programs.
• Deep understanding of financial services regulation, data protection, and anti-bribery laws.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic planning abilities.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders and reporting to board level.
