About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and accomplished Head of Projects to lead their project management office (PMO) in Leeds . This senior leadership role is responsible for establishing and maintaining project management standards, overseeing the execution of the organisation's project portfolio, and ensuring alignment with strategic business goals. You will manage a team of project managers, provide guidance, and drive best practices across all project endeavors. This is a critical position for an experienced leader looking to shape and implement project delivery frameworks within a growing organisation committed to operational excellence and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organisation's project management framework, methodologies, and best practices.
• Oversee the entire project portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment, resource optimization, and successful delivery.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of project managers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Establish and manage project governance, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
• Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on project feasibility, strategic alignment, and portfolio performance.
• Facilitate effective communication and stakeholder engagement across all levels of the organisation and with external partners.

Requirements

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior project management or portfolio management roles.
• Demonstrated success in establishing and leading a Project Management Office (PMO).
• Strong understanding of various project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
• Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects and large teams.
• Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or PgMP are essential.
