About the Role
Our client is seeking an inspirational and experienced Head of Science Department to lead their well-established science faculty in Manchester . This senior leadership position involves overseeing the delivery of high-quality science education across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. You will be responsible for curriculum development, staff management, and ensuring excellent academic outcomes in all science disciplines. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a passion for scientific inquiry, and a commitment to fostering a stimulating and supportive learning environment for both students and staff, driving innovation and excellence within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Science department, including staff performance and professional development.
- Develop and implement an ambitious and engaging science curriculum across all key stages.
- Ensure high standards of teaching and learning, monitoring progress and implementing improvement strategies.
- Manage the department's budget and resources effectively.
- Promote a culture of scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and practical investigation among students.
- Oversee the preparation for external examinations and ensure excellent student results.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in a science discipline.
- Significant experience in teaching science at secondary level, with proven leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and educational best practices.
- Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate both students and teaching staff.
