Head of Sports Facilities Management

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Head of Sports Facilities Management to oversee their portfolio of sports venues and amenities in Sheffield . This critical leadership role involves ensuring the operational excellence, safety, and optimal utilization of all sports facilities, contributing significantly to the success of the Leisure & Sports division. You will be responsible for managing budgets, leading a dedicated facilities team, and implementing best practices in maintenance, security, and customer service. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facility management, coupled with a deep understanding of the unique demands of sports environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans for the management and maintenance of all sports facilities.
• Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, event support, and resource allocation across multiple sites.
• Manage substantial budgets for facility operations, capital expenditures, and asset management.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and accessibility regulations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of facilities managers and operational staff.
• Implement innovative solutions for facility upgrades, modernization, and sustainability initiatives.
• Manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in Facilities Management , with a significant portion focused on sports venues or large recreational complexes.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large operational budgets and capital projects.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in motivating diverse teams.
• In-depth knowledge of building maintenance, safety standards, and risk management in a sports context.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
