Health and Safety Advisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Advisor to join their team in Plymouth . This role is essential for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment across all operational sites. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture amongst all employees. This is a vital position for an individual passionate about workplace safety, contributing to the well-being of staff and the operational integrity of a reputable organisation in the South West of England.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend control measures.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide health and safety training and guidance to employees at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Maintain health and safety records and prepare reports for management.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.

Requirements

• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a dedicated Health and Safety role, preferably within an industrial or construction setting.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, fire risk assessments, and accident investigations.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and training skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational skills.
