H&S Manager

Location: Middlesbrough Salary: £50,000–£55,000 + package Job Type: Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced H&S Manager to join an established construction business based in Middlesbrough.

Working directly under the Regional H&S Manager, this is a hands-on, site-focused position supporting the delivery of a varied portfolio of construction projects across the North East.

Projects are largely focused on commercial and residential construction, although the business delivers a broader range of schemes, providing a varied workload for an experienced construction H&S professional.

The Role

The H&S Manager will work closely with project and site teams, providing practical health and safety support throughout the construction process.

The role will involve regular site visits across the region, ensuring projects are operating safely and in accordance with legislation, company procedures and project requirements.

You will report directly to the Regional H&S Manager and work as part of the wider H&S function.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out regular site visits, inspections and audits

Provide day-to-day H&S support to site and project teams

Review RAMS, construction phase plans and associated documentation

*

Monitor compliance with company H&S procedures and legislation

*

Identify potential risks and recommend appropriate control measures

*

Assist with incident investigations and follow-up actions

*

Provide practical advice and guidance to site management

*

Support project teams in maintaining high standards of site safety

*

Assist with H&S reporting and monitoring

*

Contribute to improving H&S procedures and standards across the business

*

Work closely with the Regional H&S Manager on regional H&S initiatives

*

Maintain strong relationships with site teams, subcontractors and project management

About You

We're looking for an experienced construction H&S professional who is comfortable working directly with site teams and visiting live construction projects.

You will ideally have experience across commercial, residential or general construction, with a practical understanding of construction site risks, RAMS, inspections and compliance.

A recognised H&S qualification such as NEBOSH Construction is expected, together with relevant construction experience. IOSH membership or equivalent would be advantageous.

This role would suit an H&S Advisor or H&S Manager looking to take the next step within an established construction business, with direct support and progression under the Regional H&S Manager.
