Health and Safety Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to ensure a safe working environment across all their construction projects in and around Reading . This critical role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures. You will conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and training programs to minimize hazards and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. The hybrid nature of this role allows for essential site presence combined with flexible remote work, optimising both safety oversight and operational efficiency. You will be a key figure in fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust health and safety management systems and procedures across all project sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs for all employees and subcontractors.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Advise senior management on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental performance.
• Maintain accurate records of safety performance, incidents, and training.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Health and Safety Management (e.g., NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma).
• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager or Officer in the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and investigative skills.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop effective safety strategies.
