Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to champion safety initiatives across their construction sites in Portsmouth . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety strategies to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel. This role requires a proactive approach to risk management and a commitment to fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization and on site operations in Hampshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Health & Safety policy and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to site personnel and management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Promote a positive safety culture and encourage employee involvement in safety initiatives.

Requirements

• NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in a similar Health and Safety role within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment and accident investigation techniques.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage multiple priorities.
