Helpdesk Support Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a technically skilled Helpdesk Support Technician to join their IT support team in Portsmouth . This is an office-based position where you will provide essential first-line technical assistance to internal staff, ensuring smooth operation of IT systems and resolving technical challenges efficiently. You will be a critical member of the IT department, directly contributing to employee productivity and satisfaction by maintaining reliable technology infrastructure within the Portsmouth office. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with excellent technical aptitude and strong communication skills, eager to grow within a dedicated IT support role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network issues via phone, email, and in-person.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems, peripherals, and applications.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to IT resources.
• Document support requests, resolutions, and system configurations in the IT helpdesk system.
• Assist with IT asset management, including inventory and equipment deployment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an IT helpdesk or technical support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications.
• Familiarity with network fundamentals and troubleshooting basic connectivity issues.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems systematically.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for an office-based Portsmouth role.
