HGV Class 1 Driver

Getting home at the end of almost every shift makes a big difference when driving is your career. As a HGV Class 1 Driver, you'll deliver steel products to customer sites while benefiting from a permanent contract, early finishes on many shifts and only around two nights away each year.

You'll be part of an established transport operation, completing deliveries to construction sites, motorway compounds and other locations across the region. Safety and reliable deliveries are at the heart of the work.

Your responsibilities as HGV Class 1 Driver

• Deliver steel products safely to construction sites, motorway compounds and customer locations
• Complete scheduled regional deliveries efficiently and on time
• Carry out appropriate vehicle and load safety checks
• Follow site, transport and health and safety procedures throughout each shift
• Maintain professional standards when dealing with customers at delivery locations
• Support the smooth running of daily transport operations

What we're looking for in a HGV Class 1 Driver

• Valid Class 1 HGV licence and Driver CPC
• Previous steel delivery experience - essential
• Strong knowledge of safe driving, load security and transport procedures
• Flexibility to work early starts, including shifts beginning from around 4:00am
• HIAB experience would be advantageous, although training can be provided
• Working hours: 48 hours per week, with early starts from around 4:00am. Drivers are generally back at the yard at approximately 2:00pm. Saturday overtime is available.
