Highways Quantity Surveyor
Make an immediate impact on a major transport capital programme. We are seeking an experienced Highways Quantity Surveyor to provide specialist commercial support. You'll help ensure highway and transportation projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with strong commercial control. If you have highways experience and can add value from day one, we'd like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial and contractual aspects of highway and transportation capital projects.
- Prepare cost estimates, monitor budgets, and assess contractor applications for payment.
- Lead procurement and contract administration activities in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks while ensuring value for money throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to support the successful delivery of highway infrastructure projects.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven Quantity Surveying experience within highways, transportation, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment.
- Strong commercial and contractual management expertise, including cost planning, budget monitoring, valuations, contractor payments, and procurement.
- Sound working knowledge of NEC contracts, commercial risk management, and delivering value for money across capital programmes.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying (or a related discipline), with membership of or progress towards a relevant professional body such as RICS or CIOB.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and provide immediate specialist support in a fast-paced environment.
