History Teacher - KS3 & KS4

About the Role

A secondary school in the heart of Cardiff requires a dynamic and passionate History Teacher to deliver engaging lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students. You will be responsible for cultivating a deep understanding and appreciation of historical events, contexts, and interpretations among your pupils. The successful candidate will join a thriving humanities department and contribute to the school's mission of fostering intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills. This role is based entirely on-site, providing a rich, interactive learning experience within the school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver comprehensive and engaging History lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Develop students' analytical skills, historical inquiry, and essay writing capabilities.
• Mark student work consistently and provide detailed, actionable feedback to support their progress.
• Prepare students for GCSE examinations in History, ensuring thorough coverage of the curriculum.
• Collaborate with colleagues within the humanities faculty to share resources and best practices.
• Engage students in historical debates and research projects to deepen their understanding.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent.
• A degree in History or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience teaching History at the secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of British and World History relevant to the KS3/KS4 curriculum.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
