Horticultural Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Horticultural Specialist to join their team in Belfast , with a hybrid working model. This role focuses on the cultivation, care, and management of a diverse range of plant species, contributing to landscape projects, research initiatives, and public engagement activities. You will play a vital part in maintaining and enhancing the horticultural collections, providing expert advice, and contributing to the sustainability goals of the organization within Northern Ireland , blending fieldwork with remote planning and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and manage planting schemes and garden maintenance programs.
• Oversee the health and well-being of plants, including pest and disease control, irrigation, and fertilization.
• Conduct regular site surveys and assessments to monitor plant growth and identify needs.
• Provide expert horticultural advice and support to colleagues, volunteers, and the public.
• Assist in the propagation and cultivation of a wide variety of plant species.
• Maintain accurate records of plant collections, treatments, and experimental data.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience in practical horticulture, including plant care and cultivation.
• Knowledge of plant identification, propagation techniques, and pest/disease management.
• Experience with garden design principles and landscape management is beneficial.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, both on-site and remotely.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
