Our client is looking for a knowledgeable and practical Horticultural Specialist to join their team near Derby . This role focuses on the cultivation, care, and management of specialized crops and plants, ensuring optimal growth and high-quality produce. You will be involved in planning planting schedules, implementing pest and disease control measures, and contributing to the development of innovative horticultural practices. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute planting, cultivation, and harvesting operations for a variety of horticultural crops.
- Monitor plant health, identify pests and diseases, and implement effective control strategies using integrated pest management principles.
- Manage irrigation systems and soil enrichment programs to ensure optimal growing conditions.
- Operate and maintain horticultural equipment, including specialized tools and machinery.
- Keep detailed records of crop performance, yields, treatments, and resource usage.
- Stay updated on the latest horticultural techniques and research relevant to the crops grown.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in commercial horticultural production or crop management.
- Strong knowledge of plant physiology, soil science, and pest/disease management.
- Experience with greenhouse management and controlled environment agriculture is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good record-keeping and communication skills.
