Housing Surveyor
Location: Hybrid Working (Home, Site Visits & Office Attendance as Required) Rate: £314.75 per day (Inside IR35) Contract: 4 Months
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Surveyor to join a local authority property team on an interim basis.
This role is responsible for ensuring the safety, condition, and quality of council-owned housing stock through inspections, defect diagnosis, repair management, and contractor supervision. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering cost-effective repairs and improvements across occupied and void properties.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out inspections and surveys of council-owned residential properties. Diagnose building defects and specify effective remedial works. Manage repair and maintenance projects from inspection through to completion. Undertake surveys and prepare work specifications for void properties. Oversee contractors on-site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Assess issues relating to damp and mould, structural defects, and general disrepair. Produce reports, feasibility studies, and property-related recommendations. Provide desktop assessments of repair enquiries where appropriate, reducing unnecessary site visits.
Essential Requirements
Housing surveying qualification or equivalent relevant experience. Experience surveying and managing repairs within residential housing stock. Strong knowledge of building defects, maintenance, and repair solutions. Experience managing contractors and monitoring works on-site. Excellent report writing and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
Local authority or social housing experience. Experience dealing with void properties. Knowledge of damp and mould investigations. Experience identifying and assessing structural defects
