Housing Support Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and proactive Housing Support Officer to join their team in Reading . This role is vital in assisting vulnerable individuals to maintain stable and secure housing, providing them with the necessary support to live independently and improve their quality of life. You will work directly with clients, understanding their unique challenges, and connecting them with resources and services that promote well-being and self-sufficiency. This is a hands-on community-based role that requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a commitment to social inclusion and housing stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of clients' housing needs and provide practical support for securing and maintaining accommodation.
• Develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to each client's circumstances and goals.
• Assist clients with budgeting, debt management, and understanding their tenancy rights and responsibilities.
• Liaise with landlords, local authorities, and other agencies to resolve housing-related issues.
• Offer emotional support and guidance, empowering clients to build confidence and resilience.
• Monitor client progress, document interventions, and report on outcomes to ensure service effectiveness.

Requirements

• Experience in housing support, social work, or a related field assisting vulnerable individuals.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, welfare benefits, and support services available to those at risk of homelessness.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work independently in the community.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and confidentiality.
• A driving license and access to a vehicle for travel within the Reading area is highly desirable.
