Job Description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading infrastructure contractor on the appointment of a HSEQ Advisor to support an international data centre project.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HSEQ professional to gain exposure to a high-profile, mission-critical construction environment (major client). The position will be initially based in Austria for approximately 6 months, before transitioning to projects in the Republic of Ireland , offering a strong combination of international project experience and longer-term opportunities closer to home.
Working closely with Project Management, Construction and Supply Chain teams, you will provide hands-on HSEQ support throughout project delivery, driving compliance, influencing site behaviours and maintaining high standards across Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance.
Accommodation, flights and travel expenses will be provided for the Austria assignment.
In your new role:
- Promote a proactive Health & Safety culture across a large-scale data centre construction project
- Provide practical HSEQ advice and support to project management, construction teams, contractors and supply-chain partners
- Monitor compliance with local legislation, client requirements and company HSEQ procedures
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations
- Review RAMS, method statements, lift plans, permits and other high-risk construction documentation
- Support the development and implementation of HSEQ management systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
- Prepare Construction Stage Plans, Emergency Response Plans and other project HSEQ documentation
- Participate in coordination meetings, toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce engagement activities
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, completing root cause analysis and tracking corrective actions through to close-out
- Monitor environmental compliance, housekeeping standards and sustainable construction practices
- Prepare weekly and monthly HSEQ performance reports for project and senior management
- Support emergency preparedness and response planning across the project
- Work closely with multinational contractors and project stakeholders to continually improve HSEQ performance
What you'll need to succeed:
- NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification
- Previous HSEQ experience within large-scale construction, industrial, infrastructure or utilities projects
- Strong understanding of high-risk construction activities and permit-to-work systems
- Experience carrying out site audits, inspections and incident investigations
- Experience reviewing RAMS, method statements and other construction safety documentation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Confidence working with contractors and multidisciplinary project teams within a fast-paced site environment
- Strong organisational, reporting and documentation skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Ability to work in Austria for the initial project assignment before transitioning to the Republic of Ireland
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Previous data centre experience
- Experience working on major construction projects elsewhere in Europe
- Knowledge of Austrian or wider EU construction Health & Safety requirements
- IOSH membership, including TechIOSH, GradIOSH or equivalent
- Environmental or Quality qualifications or certifications
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
- First Aid or Fire Marshal training
