About the Role
Our client is at the forefront of the clean energy revolution and is seeking a highly skilled Hydrogen Energy Systems Engineer to join their forward-thinking, remote-first team. This role is critical in designing, developing, and deploying innovative hydrogen-based energy solutions. You will be instrumental in advancing technologies related to hydrogen production (electrolysis, reforming), storage, transportation, and utilization (fuel cells, turbines). The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background with specialized expertise in hydrogen technologies, contributing to the development of a sustainable hydrogen economy and supporting the UK's net-zero ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer hydrogen production systems, including electrolyzers and associated balance of plant.
- Develop and optimize hydrogen storage and distribution solutions, considering safety and efficiency.
- Specify and integrate hydrogen fuel cells and other utilization technologies into energy systems.
- Conduct techno-economic assessments and feasibility studies for hydrogen projects.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and risk assessments for hydrogen systems.
- Collaborate with R&D teams, external partners, and clients to advance hydrogen technology deployment.
- Support the development of project proposals and contribute to grant applications.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on hydrogen technologies.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the design, development, or implementation of hydrogen energy systems .
- Strong understanding of hydrogen production methods (electrolysis, steam methane reforming), storage technologies (compressed, cryogenic, materials-based), and fuel cell systems.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations pertaining to hydrogen handling and systems.
- Experience with simulation and modeling tools relevant to chemical processes or energy systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a fully remote , collaborative environment.
