About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced In-House Counsel with a specialization in Commercial Litigation to join their established legal department in Birmingham . This role requires a strategic thinker adept at managing a diverse caseload of disputes, from inception through to resolution. You will be the primary point of contact for litigation matters, working closely with business units to mitigate risks and achieve favourable outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for a litigator seeking to transition to an in-house role, offering significant autonomy and the chance to make a tangible impact on the company's legal strategy and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and conduct commercial litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution proceedings.
- Provide strategic advice on potential legal risks and liabilities associated with business activities.
- Conduct internal investigations and prepare legal opinions on complex litigation matters.
- Instruct and manage external legal counsel where necessary, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies to protect the company's interests effectively.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate in England and Wales.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial litigation, gained in private practice or in-house.
- Demonstrable experience in handling high-value and complex disputes across various forums.
- Strong understanding of civil procedure rules and evidence law.
- Excellent analytical skills, persuasive advocacy, and strategic thinking capabilities.
