In-House Counsel - Corporate Law

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm based in Newcastle upon Tyne , is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to bolster their legal department. This role is crucial for providing comprehensive legal support across all facets of the business, with a strong emphasis on corporate law, compliance, and commercial contracts. You will be an integral part of the company's success, advising on strategic decisions, managing risk, and ensuring adherence to all relevant legal frameworks. The position is based in our client's modern offices in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne , offering a vibrant and collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, partnership deals, and supplier contracts.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant UK and international laws and regulations, including data protection (GDPR) and employment law.
• Manage legal risk across the organisation, developing and implementing robust internal policies and procedures.
• Liaise with external legal counsel on complex or specialised matters.
• Support the business development team with legal aspects of new ventures and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• A qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house experience.
• Significant expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
