In-House Counsel - Real Estate

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated In-House Counsel with a specialization in Real Estate Law to join their progressive legal team based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK . In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal counsel on all property-related matters, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, development, and joint ventures. You will play a key role in managing legal risk, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with property law regulations, supporting the company's extensive property portfolio and strategic growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the legal aspects of property acquisitions, disposals, and development projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial lease agreements and other property contracts.
• Provide legal advice on planning law, landlord and tenant issues, and property finance.
• Conduct due diligence on property transactions.
• Liaise with external counsel, agents, and other stakeholders involved in property dealings.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant property legislation and regulations.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' experience in real estate law, preferably in-house or in a reputable private practice.
• Strong understanding of commercial property transactions and landlord and tenant legislation.
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
• Proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving.
