About the Role
Our client, a leading manufacturing firm based in Coventry , is looking for a dedicated In-House Counsel to join their growing legal department. This role is integral to the company's operations, providing essential legal support across various business functions. You will be involved in a broad spectrum of legal matters, from commercial contracts and intellectual property to compliance and dispute resolution, ensuring the company operates within legal and ethical boundaries. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to gain in-depth knowledge of a specific industry and make a tangible impact on business decisions in the West Midlands region .
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including supply, distribution, and licensing contracts.
- Provide legal advice on employment law matters, company policies, and HR-related issues.
- Manage intellectual property portfolios, including trademarks and patents.
- Support the business on regulatory compliance, data protection (GDPR), and health and safety legislation.
- Assist in the management of litigation and dispute resolution processes.
- Liaise with external counsel on specialized legal matters.
Requirements
- A qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 4 years' experience, ideally gained in a commercial law firm or in-house.
- Strong generalist legal knowledge with a focus on commercial, contract, and corporate law.
- Experience in handling intellectual property and data privacy matters.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive and pragmatic approach to legal risk management.
