In-House Counsel

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and versatile In-House Counsel to bolster their legal department in Birmingham . This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive legal support across various business units, covering commercial contracts, intellectual property, and employment law. You will be instrumental in advising on day-to-day legal issues, mitigating risk, and ensuring the company operates within legal boundaries. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements, including supplier contracts, service agreements, and licensing deals.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights, and manage the company's IP portfolio.
• Provide guidance on employment law issues, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and best practices.
• Support the business development team in structuring and closing new commercial ventures.
• Manage litigation and dispute resolution matters effectively, working with external counsel when necessary.
• Develop and deliver legal training to internal stakeholders on key compliance areas.

Requirements

• A qualified lawyer (Solicitor or Barrister) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Solid experience in commercial contract law, with a good understanding of IP and employment law.
• Proven ability to provide pragmatic and commercially sound legal advice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across departments.
• Proficiency in legal research and risk assessment.
• Experience in an in-house legal role or significant experience advising corporate clients in a law firm setting.
