In-House Legal Counsel - Construction

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the construction industry based in Leeds , is seeking an experienced In-House Legal Counsel with expertise in construction law. This role is critical in supporting the company's large-scale projects, ensuring legal compliance, and managing contractual risks. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and senior management, providing practical and strategic legal advice. Key Responsibilities

• Advise on all legal aspects of construction projects, including contract drafting, negotiation, and administration.
• Manage and resolve disputes arising from construction contracts, including adjudication and arbitration.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including health and safety regulations and planning laws.
• Review and advise on procurement strategies and tender processes.
• Develop and implement robust risk management strategies for construction activities.

Requirements

• A qualified solicitor or barrister with a strong background in construction law .
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience, with significant experience in non-contentious and contentious construction matters.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
• Excellent understanding of project finance and infrastructure development.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide effective, business-focused legal advice.
