In-House Legal Counsel - Contracts

About the Role

Our client, a leading retail group with operations across the UK, is seeking a proactive In-House Legal Counsel to join their busy legal team based in Nottingham . This role focuses primarily on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service contracts, and marketing agreements. You will provide practical legal advice to various business departments, ensuring the company's commercial interests are protected and compliance is maintained. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts, including terms and conditions, SLAs, and NDAs.
• Provide timely and practical legal advice to commercial, procurement, and marketing teams.
• Manage contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant legislation.
• Assist with dispute resolution and manage claims arising from contractual issues.
• Develop and maintain template agreements and contract management processes.
• Support on ad-hoc legal projects as required by the Head of Legal.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 3 years' experience in contract law .
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Strong understanding of commercial risk and compliance issues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
• Experience working in-house or advising commercial clients is preferred.
