About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented In-House Legal Counsel to join their established legal department in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is critical for supporting the company's ongoing commercial activities and ensuring robust legal compliance across all operations. You will be instrumental in advising on a wide spectrum of legal issues, from contractual matters to regulatory challenges, acting as a key advisor to business units and management. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen and a dedication to providing effective legal support within a fast-paced environment in the legal industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.
- Advise business teams on legal risks associated with new products, services, and market initiatives.
- Manage corporate compliance programs and advise on regulatory changes impacting the business in Newcastle upon Tyne .
- Assist in the management of intellectual property portfolios, including trademarks and patents.
- Support the company's procurement and sales functions with legal advice and contract execution.
- Respond to legal inquiries from internal stakeholders and coordinate with external counsel when necessary.
Requirements
- Admitted to practice law in the UK (Solicitor or Barrister).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with in-house exposure.
- Strong understanding of contract law, commercial litigation, and corporate law.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
