In-House Legal Counsel

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented In-House Legal Counsel to join their established legal department in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is critical for providing day-to-day legal support to various business units, ensuring all operations are conducted in full legal compliance. You will be instrumental in drafting, reviewing, and advising on a broad spectrum of legal documents and contracts, thereby mitigating risks and facilitating smooth business operations. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including service agreements, supply contracts, and NDAs.
• Provide timely and practical legal advice to management and operational teams on day-to-day legal issues.
• Manage dispute resolution processes and liaise with external solicitors on contentious matters.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable UK legislation, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Assist with the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to enhance legal risk management.

Requirements

• A qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably gained in-house or within a reputable commercial law firm.
• Strong understanding of contract law , company law, and commercial litigation.
• Proven experience in advising business stakeholders on a range of legal matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Commitment to working collaboratively within a team environment and maintaining confidentiality.
