Industrial Automation Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Industrial Automation Technician to join their operations in Wolverhampton . This hybrid role involves significant hands-on work on the factory floor, maintaining and troubleshooting automated systems, as well as remote access for programming adjustments and performance monitoring. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of automated production lines, working with PLCs, robotics, and control systems. This position is ideal for a technician who is comfortable working both on-site and remotely, possesses strong technical aptitude, and is keen to contribute to advanced manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and robots.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and software issues within automated systems.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on production machinery.
• Utilize remote access tools to diagnose issues, modify PLC programs, and optimize system performance.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement system upgrades and process improvements.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Industrial Automation Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) , VFDs, and control systems.
• Experience with robotics programming and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and remote access tools.
• Relevant technical qualifications or apprenticeship in industrial automation or electrical engineering.
