Industrial Automation Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a technically proficient Industrial Automation Technician to join their critical Installation & Maintenance division in Sheffield . This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of automated manufacturing systems. You will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated automation equipment, including robotics, PLCs, and HMI systems. This hands-on position requires a strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software principles within an industrial context, contributing to the efficiency and productivity of manufacturing operations in Sheffield .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and test automated machinery and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and software issues on the production floor.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on automated equipment to ensure uptime and prevent failures.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&ID diagrams, and PLC logic.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement system upgrades and improvements.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards for industrial automation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Industrial Automation Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, robotics, and VFDs.
• Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and control systems troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and understand complex technical documentation and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work on-site and adapt to production schedules in Sheffield .
