About the Role

Our client is seeking a robust and conscientious Industrial Cleaning Operative to join their team in Sunderland . This position is vital for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment within industrial settings, which may include manufacturing plants, warehouses, or production facilities. You will be responsible for specialized cleaning tasks, often involving heavy-duty equipment and adherence to stringent safety protocols to ensure operational continuity and regulatory compliance. This role requires a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work effectively in demanding conditions, contributing to the overall health and safety of the workforce in Tyne and Wear .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform industrial-scale cleaning, including degreasing, high-pressure washing, and sanitizing of machinery, floors, and equipment.
• Safely handle and dispose of industrial waste, chemicals, and hazardous materials according to strict guidelines.
• Operate specialized cleaning machinery and tools, such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers, and industrial vacuums.
• Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
• Conduct routine checks on cleaning equipment and report any defects or maintenance needs immediately.
• Support the team in maintaining site cleanliness during operational hours and scheduled shutdowns.

Requirements

• Previous experience in industrial cleaning or a similar physically demanding role is essential.
• Knowledge of industrial cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures, including COSHH awareness.
• Ability to operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
• Good physical condition with the ability to undertake demanding tasks, including working at heights or in confined spaces if required.
